Select the type of document being prepared.  There are two Document Type options.

 

Invoice Invoices increase the balance due from your customers.

 

Credit Memo Credit memos decrease the balance due from your customers.  If you want to credit the customer for an entire invoice amount, retrieve the invoice, change the Document Type to "Credit Memo" and click on the Save button.  This will create a credit memo for the original invoice.
