1. Access the Budget application from the Activities menu or Shortcuts.
2. Enter a Budget ID, Budget Type, Budget Method and Period. Fiscal Year will default to the current fiscal year and Status will default to Pending.
3. Optionally, you may assign an Owner or enter descriptive text in the Description field. If the budget transactions to be entered are adjustments, either increases or decreases to previously entered budget amounts for the Fiscal Year and Budget Type, check the Adjustment field.
4. Fill in the budget transaction lines. Each transaction must have either an Account or a Job (if you are entering job budget information the Use Job Budgets field in Company Setup must be checked).
5. Optionally, you may select a Class, Task, Category, Unit, Quantity, Rate or enter descriptive text for each transaction.
6. When all budget transactions have been entered, click on Save in the toolbar to save the budget document.
7. The total budget for an account/class or job/task/category is the sum of all budget transactions for a given Budget Type and Fiscal Year. Use Budget Inquiry to view account and job actual and budget activity.
8. Budget information can be copied or exported and imported from other budget types and years. See Copy Budget, Export Budget and Import Budget for a detailed explanation of these processes. |
